Ryan and I have set aside a block of rooms at the Grand Sierra Resort in central Reno. We both think that by far this is the nicest casino in town with the most things to do, as it is not only a casino, but a resort too.
Some of what we love about GSR:
- 3 fine dining restaurants (including a Charlie Palmer steakhouse)
- 10 other places to eat, including a buffet, Starbucks, Port of Subs, and Johnny Rockets.
- 5 bars, and one of them is by the pool.
- The pool is really cool – admission is free if you are staying at the hotel and it has sand!
- Bowling
- Arcade (one of the biggest in Reno)
- Laser tag
- Go Karts
- Spa
- Driving range
- Fun gambling – including a smoke-free area
If you would like to book a stay here, we have set aside standard rooms in the GSR portion of the hotel and summit rooms in the Summit at GSR portion of the hotel. Standard GSR rooms are $89/night with our wedding discount – these are nice and recently remodeled rooms with average views. Summit at GSR rooms are $120/night. These are the luxury rooms in the hotel, with great views near the top of the hotel. You have to call the hotel to get our wedding group discount – so call them at 1-800-501-2651 and give them the THOUSE booking code They can answer any other questions you might have over the phone.
Unfortunately, most rooms in Reno are expensive for the June 28th weekend, as the Rodeo will be in town that weekend. However, if you would like a cheaper room, the following hotels might have something cheaper. I do not have rooms set aside at these hotels and rooms will fill far in advance due to the Rodeo, so make sure to book early.
- Western Village Casino and Hotel
- Circus Circus Reno
- Harrah’s Reno
- Best Western Plus Airport Plaza (Near GSR – walking distance. Standard Best Western.)
